The four classes
- Primary: the starting lineup, cheap and honest. Includes Dart Monkey and the v49.0 addition Desperado, a gun-switching tower that community discussion has consistently praised since launch.
- Military: ranged and vehicle towers with money-making and map-control tools mixed in.
- Magic: the exotic line, including the Wizard Monkey whose Archmage is a Tier 5 upgrade, not a separate tower, and the water-and-land-capable Mermonkey added in v44.0.
- Support: the economy and utility line, from Banana Farms to buff stations.
How upgrades actually work
Each tower has three paths of five tiers. In a match you select one path to push deep, and the other two stay available at lower tiers, with the exact crosspathing rules gated per tower. The two Tier 5s per path are the top end, and combining three Tier 5s of the same tower type is how Paragons are made.
The newest towers
The roster still grows. Mermonkey arrived in v44.0 (August 2024), Desperado in v49.0 (June 2025), and Update 56.0 added the Skywarden, a storm-bow guardian themed around mountain storms. New towers typically unlock through pops milestones or a one-time purchase, and each update that adds one is tracked on the updates page.
